What is a recipe?

A recipe is a set of instructions for preparing a particular dish. It usually includes a list of ingredients and the steps required to make the dish.

Who creates the recipes on MunchiesForDays.com?

Some recipes are created by our own staff. We're sure you'll find their signature throughout the site, especially in the sandwiches department. 🤣

Others are recipes from around the world, curated by our staff and tried by all our family members and friends. 😊

What are some common cooking terms I should know?

Here are some common cooking terms:

Simmer – To cook food gently in liquid over low heat.

Boil – To cook food in boiling water or another hot liquid.

Sauté – To cook food quickly in a small amount of hot oil or butter.

Roast – To cook food in an oven at a high temperature.

Can I make substitutions in a recipe?

You absolutely can!

Sometimes you might have to, due to dietary restrictions. You can check out our article on the most common food substitutions here.

Other times you might just want to spice it up! We've added some common substitutions and extras you can add with most recipes, but we encourage you to let your creativity run wild in the kitchen! Let your instinct guide you and remember to share with us any amazing results you get!

How do I know how much food to cook?

We try and estimate the number of portions each recipe will yield, however, this will depend on how big your Munchie Monsters are! 👹

What is the difference between a hard and a soft boiled egg?

A hard-boiled egg is an egg that has been cooked for a long time until the yolk is solid. A soft-boiled egg is an egg that has been cooked for a short time until the yolk is still runny.

What is a pinch of salt?

A pinch of salt is a very small amount of salt, usually equal to about 1/8 teaspoon, which is less than 1 gram!

We call it a pinch because it is the literal amount you can pinch with your index finger and thumb. 🤏

What are some common cooking mistakes that beginners make?

The most common one would be not following through with the entire recipe. We try and keep it short and sweet, but it is up to you to cross the finish line!
